Mishkat Interactive Center was created to do to science what a mishkat does to light – spread it beautifully, protect it and enhance it. Under the auspices of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE), Mishkat Interactive Center for Atomic and Renewable Energy is a launch pad for learning, inspiring a new generation of Saudi Arabian energy innovators.
Renewable Energy is one of the sectors emphasized in Saudi Vision 2030. As the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia still lacks a competitive renewable energy sector at present, it also lacks the education, the introductory and the basic practice for the children, the next leaders in the Kingdom. Therefore, we partnered with Mishkat Interactive Center to launch the first virtual reality experience of Renewable Energy. And, this is how we spark the children and find innovators in this sector, reaching the initial target of generating 9.5 gigawatts of renewable energy, as proposed in Saudi Vision 2030.
We launched the first-ever virtual reality application of renewable energy called Energy Capture VR. Mainly for kids and students, Energy Capture VR is an educational game that brings them to a virtual renewable energy parks with some challenges to resolve. The main challenge is to generate power by using energy sources only, such as sun, wind, and water. With this virtual reality application, the students can understand the basic theory on how renewable energy works, see how it all goes in a renewable energy park, and practice how to generate power using renewable energy, all in virtual reality, safe and sound. And, that’s how you create a spark in the children’s hearts, so they are more aware of what the county will face. Energy Capture VR is available on Android and iOS.
The basic rule to use virtual reality application: You need a virtual reality glasses. Most people may have the mobile to run the application, but they do not have a virtual reality viewer to transport into the virtual world. Hence, we created a Mishkat-branded virtual reality glasses. This could be used by the administrator as a merchandise from the Mishkat Interactive Center every time a visitor visit Mishkat.
